If this is life-threatening, call 112 (national emergency) or 119 (medical emergency / ambulance) first. 112 is the national emergency number in Indonesia; 119 is the public health emergency line (PSC 119) for ambulance and medical dispatch. Make that call before you contact us. Once help is moving, message the desk and we take over the coordination around it.
Sanur in daylight, Sanur after 22:00
Sanur is a small, walkable, low-rise resort town on the east side of Denpasar. That shapes what medical help looks like here. During office hours there are clinics along the bypass and in the lanes behind the beach. Late in the evening, the picture changes completely.
What changes
The clinic most foreign visitors know is at Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai No.194, Sanur Kaja, run by International SOS as SOS Medika Klinik Bali. Its operator publishes clinic hours of 08:00 to 22:00, including public holidays, and telephone +62 361 2014 505 (International SOS clinic listing pages, checked 30 September 2026). One older page on the same operator’s site still carries a former Kuta address, so if you searched and found an address about ten kilometres away, that page is out of date. Outside those hours, a clinic is not the answer.
Where Sanur sends people
The Ministry of Health registry lists two hospitals in the Sanur area and, for the wider Denpasar area, twenty-four. The nearest registered hospital to central Sanur is RSUD Bali Mandara, Jl. By Pass Ngurah Rai No 548: a class B general hospital owned by the provincial government, with intensive care capacity and interventional cardiology on its registered service list (registry profile 5171220, checked 30 September 2026).
Denpasar emergency departments and the road there
Most serious cases end up in Denpasar. Facilities recorded in the registry with published telephone numbers that we could confirm from two sources include RSUD Wangaya, Jalan RA Kartini No. 133, class B, (0361) 222141; RS Umum Surya Husadha, (0361) 233787; RS Umum Kasih Ibu, Jl. Teuku Umar 120, class C, (0361) 300 3030 — a group call centre, not a direct emergency line; and RS BaliMed, Jl. Mahendradatta No. 57X, class C, +62 811 1484 748. Each of those numbers appears both in the Ministry of Health profile and on the facility’s own website, both read 30 September 2026.
The province’s central referral hospital, RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah on Jl. Diponegoro, is a class A hospital with by far the largest registered intensive care capacity on the island. We publish no telephone number for it, because the registry number and the number on the hospital’s own site disagree, and a wrong number in an emergency is worse than none. We will not give you a journey time either: no verifiable source for Sanur-to-Denpasar travel times exists, and traffic here makes any figure meaningless.
Reading the “24-hour emergency department” line correctly
Every one of the 88 Bali hospitals in the Ministry of Health registry carries the same sentence about a 24-hour general emergency service. It is a mandatory licensing field, not a survey of what is available tonight. A licensed emergency department can still be without the specialist, the scanner or the bed your case needs. The registry also lists 88 hospitals against an official provincial count of 95, so it is not a complete picture. This is why we telephone rather than read a list to you.
What to bring
Passport, policy, medication list
Bring the patient’s passport, the insurance policy number and the insurer’s assistance telephone number, a list of current medication with doses as written on the packet, and a means of payment. Photograph all of it before you leave the room. If you want a medical report or receipts in a form your insurer will accept, say so at the start: the treating provider issues those documents, and asking early is far easier than chasing them after discharge.
A doctor to your room instead
Sometimes the journey is the problem, not the illness — a small child, a bad night, a long taxi ride you do not want to make. In that case a licensed provider who offers house calls may be the better route. It is a different set of trade-offs, set out on our page about doctor visits to your villa or hotel.
What we do
We answer, establish exactly where you are and a callback number, and ask the practical questions that decide the destination. We telephone the facility in Indonesian, say who is coming and why in plain terms, and ask what they need on arrival. We arrange the car. We meet you at the entrance, interpret at the counter, and handle the admission paperwork and the insurer correspondence that follows. For longer stays, the detail is on our page about interpreter and companion support in Bali hospitals.
What we do, and what we do not do
What we do: answer around the clock; establish where you are; telephone facilities in Indonesian on your behalf; help you choose where to go using published information with its source and check date; arrange ground transport; accompany you; interpret; handle admission paperwork and insurance liaison.
What we do not do: we are not a clinic or a hospital; we do not employ doctors, nurses or paramedics; we do not diagnose, prescribe, treat or issue medical letters; we do not rank facilities and publish no favourites; and we do not promise that a named department will be able to receive you before we have telephoned and asked.
Questions people ask about Sanur
Is there a 24-hour clinic in Sanur?
Sanur has listed clinics and hospitals nearby, but a clinic advertising long hours is not the same as a hospital emergency department, and the difference matters at night. We publish each facility with its source and the date we checked. Capabilities and hours change, so we confirm by phone during your case.
Which Bali hospital has English-speaking doctors?
The UK Foreign Office list of medical facilities in Indonesia, updated 9 July 2026, records around eighteen Bali facilities as having English-speaking staff, across Badung, Denpasar, Gianyar, Klungkung, Tabanan, Buleleng and Bangli. That is a facility-level record, not a promise about the doctor on shift tonight.
Can a medical concierge arrange emergency hospital admission?
Yes, that is the core of the work. We call the facility in Indonesian, say who is coming and why in practical terms, ask what they need on arrival, and prepare the admission paperwork. Admission itself is granted by the facility and its clinicians, on their assessment, not on our request.
Can a medical concierge accompany me to a hospital in Bali?
Yes. A coordinator can meet you, travel with you and stay through admission, interpreting and keeping the paperwork moving. That coordinator is not medical staff and takes no part in clinical decisions. How long anyone may stay in a treatment area is set by the facility’s own rules, not by us.
